Elder Line – 14567 (National Helpline for Senior Citizens) commemorated its 2nd anniversary formation in Nagaland.
Gracing the programme held at its office, CK Arcade complex Kohima, on 28th September 2023 with Special Guest MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso released the magazine entitled “Footprint.” Dr Rhutso called upon the youngsters of today’s generation to establish a strong system in whichever possible ways to help the elderly people.
Neithonuo Liegise, Programme Manager of Elder Line Nagaland, informed that Elder Line Nagaland was set-up by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE) under the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), in collaboration with State Social Welfare Department, to facilitate happy and healthy ageing by serving the senior citizens of India with honour and compassion. She informed that the State helpline consists of Connect Centre operational from Monday to Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm, which is managed by call officers and assisted by field response officers. The purpose of Connect Centre is to solve problems and field intervention to rescue senior citizens. She also highlighted various other interventions done by the team to rescue the senior citizens and also shared some of the achievement of Elder Line in the past year including, help set up a separate counter for senior citizens at banks and free travel in (Nagaland State Transport) NST buses.
